How Outlast® technology works

  • The Outlast® duvet absorbs the excess heat
  • The Outlast® material stores this thermal energy
  • If the skin temperature drops, the stored energy is released again
  • Warm skin has a cooling effect
  • Cool skin creates a warming effect

Sweat less, freeze less.

Outlast

Developed for space, tried and tested on earth

Back in 2003, Outlast® thermal technology was recognised as "Certified Space Technology™" by the Space Foundation, an international non-profit organisation that promotes space activities.

Outlast® is the only textile company in the world to have received this seal of approval for proactive thermal management.

Why is Outlast® a thermal material

Body heat is transferred to the Outlast® thermal material. This is where the micro-encapsulated wax, usually based on rapeseed oil, is located, which liquefies when exposed to heat. The wax is safely enclosed in microcapsules. According to a physical law, the temperature does not rise any further when the aggregate state changes from solid to liquid. Figuratively speaking, the thermal energy is used to change the aggregate state of the wax.
