House dust mite allergy

Mites in bed are a common problem, as the small arachnids find ideal living conditions in mattresses, duvets, pillows and bed linen. They feed mainly on dead skin flakes. Although mites themselves are harmless, their faeces can trigger allergies.

Antimilben Acarsan

Acarsan®

Acarsan consists of 100 % natural plant extracts of margosa and geraniol.
The margosa plant is cultivated in South East Asia and is used in traditional oriental medicine to treat allergies.
Gerianol is extracted from geranium. The oil of this plant acts as a natural active ingredient with dermatological and cell-regenerating properties. Geraniol, among other substances in the plant, prevents infestation by insects and germs, making it resistant.

Neotherm Membrane

Neotherm®

The Neotherm® membrane from Velfont effectively protects your mattress from liquids, preventing stains and damage.
Despite its waterproof properties, the Neotherm® membrane allows a high level of air permeability, ensuring a dry and comfortable sleeping environment.
The membrane acts as a physical barrier against dust mites, which is particularly beneficial for allergy sufferers.

Prevention and control of house dust mites

Wash bed linen, pillows and blankets at least every 1-2 weeks at a minimum temperature of 60°C.

Use mattress and pillow covers made of allergen-proof materials.

Vacuum the mattress regularly using a hoover with a HEPA filter.

Maintain a room temperature of 16-18°C and a humidity of less than 50%. Regular ventilation improves the room climate.

If possible, remove carpets and heavy curtains and dust regularly with a damp cloth to prevent dust from being stirred up.

Place soft toys and other hard-to-wash textiles in the freezer for a few hours to kill mites.

Purchase an air purifier with a HEPA filter.
