What is a fitted sheet?
A fitted sheet, also known as a stretch sheet or elasticated sheet, is a wonderful aid to restful sleep. It is a cover that fits snugly around the mattress and ensures a perfect fit with its all-round elastic band. All fitted sheets from Bawitex also have sewn-in corner seams so that they fit your mattress perfectly and do not slip easily thanks to the elastic band. What sizes are available for fitted sheets?
Fitted sheets are available in different sizes. As most fitted sheets are elasticated, they can be pulled over mattresses of different sizes. It is also important to consider the height of the mattress.

What size for a box spring bed?
Always choose the size of the fitted sheet taking into account the dimensions of the bed and topper to ensure an optimal fit, an ideal fit and a wrinkle-free surface.
A fitted sheet with a height of 25-35 cm is well suited for high mattresses and box spring beds. We recommend Lotus Souplesse fitted sheets for high mattresses, as they stretch wonderfully and fit wrinkle-free thanks to their high elastane content.
Lotus Souplesse fitted sheets are suitable for mattresses, toppers or mattresses + toppers. They are not only suitable for high mattresses, but also for mattresses with a topper on top. For example, if the mattress is approx. 25-30 cm high and the topper on top is approx. 8 cm, then the Lotus Souplesse fitted sheet will fit over both mattresses.
What is a topper fitted sheet?
This is a fitted sheet for a mattress topper, as many box spring beds or upholstered beds are equipped with a topper, which provides additional comfort on top of the mattress. All fitted sheets from the Lotus Souplesse range are suitable as topper fitted sheets. For narrow toppers with a height of 6–8 cm, the excess fabric of the Lotus Souplesse fitted sheet is folded over and tucked under the topper. Thanks to the high elasticity of the Lotus Souplesse fitted sheet (6% elastane), it spreads out easily and can be smoothed out without any problems.

What materials are used for fitted sheets?
- Terry cloth fitted sheets: soft, elastic terry cloth made of cotton.
- Flannel fitted sheets: fluffy, brushed cotton fabric. They are very warm, cosy and soft, and are ideal for the cold season and winter. However, they are not as elastic as jersey fitted sheets, as they are woven.
- Bamboo fitted sheets: elastic jersey fabric made from a bamboo-cotton blend and elastane. They are very breathable and moisture-regulating. They are ideal for summer or when you sweat a lot.
- Satin fitted sheets: characterised by a shiny, densely woven satin fabric made of cotton, they score points for their elegant look and smooth surface with a cooling effect. This makes satin fitted sheets suitable for summer use. However, they are not as elastic as jersey fitted sheets, as they are woven.
- Jersey fitted sheets: elastic, breathable and non-iron fine knit fabric made of cotton or bamboo. They feel soft and comfortable against the skin and hardly crease, so they look neat and tidy even without ironing.

Care and cleaning of fitted sheets
Proper care and cleaning of fitted sheets contributes significantly to their longevity and hygiene. Fitted sheets should be washed once after purchase to remove any manufacturing residues and keep them hygienically clean.
Washing and drying fitted sheets
To ensure you feel completely comfortable and secure every night, we recommend washing your Lotus and Capistrano fitted sheets every two to three weeks. Wash them at 60 degrees to effectively remove dirt, sweat and bacteria. Use a normal heavy-duty detergent, no bleach or fabric softener, as these can weaken the fibres or impair absorbency. Separate colours and wash dark, light and bright colours separately. Lotus Souplesse, Lotus Comfort, Lotus Nova and Capistrano fitted sheets are suitable for tumble drying and can also be dried in the open air. It is best to dry the fitted sheet in the tumble dryer and then finish drying it in the open air. Fitted sheets are very easy to fold if you first tuck the corners into each other and then fold the fitted sheet several times to the desired size. Here is a trick to make it easy to put the fitted sheet back on: Lotus and Capistrano fitted sheets all have a clever corner with the label containing the washing symbols sewn into it. Pull this clever corner with the label over the top right or bottom left corner of the mattress. This ensures that the fitted sheet always lies correctly on the mattress.
